Wadowice - the home town of JP II
Karol Jozef Wojtyła was born on 18 May 1920 in Wadowice in southern Poland. He was the youngest of three children of Karol Wojtyła and Emilia Kaczorowska. The status of the Town as the birthplace of Pope John Paul II, led to a fast growth of tourism in the area. Every year there are more than 200,000 people visiting Wadowice. The house of John Paul II is open for visitors. Inside there is a gallery and many objects from The Pop's life. From the window of Pope's, there is a view on the Church, which as you can imagine was very important for the First Polish Pope ever. The Church is open every day therefore you can see where the history actually started.
